1. Acceptance of these terms
By downloading, accessing, or using StoneScope, you agree to these Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use StoneScope.
2. What StoneScope provides
StoneScope provides photo-based identification assistance for rocks, gems, crystals, and minerals, along with estimated market ranges, visible quality factors, comparable specimen context, collection tools, and related informational features.
Important: StoneScope is an informational tool. Results are estimates based on photographs and available contextual signals. StoneScope is not a professional appraiser, gemological laboratory, authentication service, certification authority, or guarantee of market value.
3. Eligibility
You may use StoneScope only if you are legally permitted to enter into these terms in your jurisdiction. If you are below the age at which you may consent to digital services where you live, a parent or legal guardian must review and accept these terms as required by applicable law.
4. Your photos and content
You retain your rights in photographs, notes, manually entered location text, and other content you provide to StoneScope.
When you submit content for remote analysis, you grant StoneScope and its service providers a limited, non-exclusive right to process that content only as reasonably necessary to provide, secure, maintain, and improve the requested StoneScope functionality, subject to the Privacy Policy and applicable law.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to submit content you provide to StoneScope.
5. Identification and valuation limitations
Photo-based analysis has inherent limitations. Lighting, image quality, specimen preparation, treatments, imitations, provenance, size, weight, hidden defects, laboratory measurements, local demand, market timing, and other factors can materially change an identification or real-world price.
- Identification results may be incomplete or incorrect.
- Estimated market ranges are illustrative and may differ from actual purchase, resale, auction, dealer, insurance, replacement, or appraisal values.
- StoneScope does not authenticate provenance, natural origin, treatment status, grade, rarity, or legal ownership.
- StoneScope should not be used as the sole basis for a significant financial, insurance, legal, safety, or collection decision.
For high-value or consequential decisions, consult a qualified independent professional who can inspect the specimen directly.
6. Subscriptions and purchases
Some StoneScope features may require a paid subscription. Subscription offerings, billing periods, prices, free trials, introductory offers, and renewal terms are displayed in the app and/or Apple’s purchase interface before you confirm a purchase.
Purchases are processed through Apple’s App Store infrastructure. Subscriptions may automatically renew unless canceled in accordance with Apple’s terms and the applicable offer shown at purchase. You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple account settings.
Refund eligibility is governed by Apple’s policies and applicable consumer law. StoneScope may use RevenueCat to manage purchase entitlement and Superwall to present subscription offers.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use StoneScope for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or deceptive purposes;
- attempt to bypass, disable, overload, probe, reverse engineer, or interfere with security or access controls except where such restrictions are prohibited by law;
- use automated means to extract or copy substantial portions of the service without permission;
- submit content that infringes another person’s rights or violates applicable law;
- misrepresent a StoneScope estimate as a certified appraisal, authentication, or guaranteed valuation.
8. Third-party services
StoneScope may depend on third-party services, including Apple, RevenueCat, Superwall, OpenRouter, model providers, hosting providers, and other infrastructure vendors. Those services may be governed by separate terms. StoneScope is not responsible for third-party services outside its reasonable control.
9. Availability and changes
We may modify, add, remove, suspend, or discontinue features of StoneScope at any time, including to improve reliability, comply with law, change providers, prevent abuse, or evolve the product. We do not guarantee that every feature or supported specimen category will remain available indefinitely.
10. Intellectual property
StoneScope, including its software, design, branding, interface, graphics, text, and other materials supplied by StoneScope, is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Except for the limited right to use the service under these terms, no rights are transferred to you.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, StoneScope is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We do not warrant that StoneScope will be uninterrupted, error-free, completely secure, or that any identification or estimated value will be accurate.
Nothing in these terms excludes warranties or consumer protections that cannot legally be excluded in your jurisdiction.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, StoneScope and its developer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss arising from reliance on an identification or valuation estimate, loss of data, loss of profits, or interruption of service.
Where liability cannot be excluded, it will be limited only to the extent permitted by applicable law. These limitations do not affect non-waivable statutory consumer rights.
13. Suspension and termination
You may stop using StoneScope at any time. We may restrict or terminate access where reasonably necessary to address abuse, security threats, legal requirements, material violations of these terms, or discontinued service.
14. Consumer rights
If you are a consumer, you may have mandatory rights under the laws of your country or region. These terms do not limit rights that cannot lawfully be waived, including applicable rights relating to digital services, subscriptions, refunds, and unfair contract terms.
15. Governing rules and disputes
These terms are governed by applicable law without overriding any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live. Before starting formal proceedings, you are encouraged to contact the developer so there is an opportunity to resolve the issue informally.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as StoneScope evolves or legal requirements change. If a change is material, we will provide notice in a reasonable manner where required. Continued use after updated terms take effect constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law.
17. Contact
For questions about these terms, contact the StoneScope developer through the developer profile. A dedicated support contact may also be provided through StoneScope’s App Store listing when available.
